black diamond

Black Diamond is a formal that Fiji, a fraternity, puts on every year. It is a huge deal and if you are a boy and get invited that means you are extremely privileged. So when all the boys get asked, every girl is hoping that they can escort the boys to this formal since everyone hears so many fun and entertaining stories about Black Diamond. All the freshmen take limos to the Four Seasons Hotel and all the freshman stay in villas at the luxurious hotel. Also the fraternity plans a delicious dinner along with music and dancing all night. I was lucky enough to go with a friend to the formal and it was everything I imagined. The frat did a great job putting this huge event together. I hope I will be able to go again next year!

DFW Airport

The DFW airport is the most confusing airport I have ever been to in my life. First of all there are 2 different ways you can get to the airport. You can leave the SMU campus driving on the same freeway but in different directions, you can either go north to the airport or south. Not only that but you can enter the airport on either side. Also you have to stop and take a ticket before entering the airport and you have to pay when you exit the airport. Furthermore, it seems like there are 50 different airlines and 8 different gates. There are a ton of roads and twist and turn and signs that look like they are above the same lane but there are three lanes so half the time I go on the wrong lane. I have driven to the airport twice to pick up my dad and a friend and both times I was late to get them because I got lost. The airport at home where I live is a piece of cake. You get off the plane walk about 30 steps to stairs go down the stairs and there are only 3 baggage claims, you get your bags within 10 minutes and then your out of there. I wish DFW was like that, whoever built DFW really had an imagination for making the most confusing airport in the world and I think he definately succeeded.

Weird Weather?

I live in Newport Beach, California and we pretty much have nothing but sun shine and nice warm weather. Maybe 2-3 months out of the year it gets to maybe 60 and some rain here and there. However the nice weather I was always used to drastically changed when I came to Texas. The first few weeks I was here it was so so so hot and the weather was very sticky. Then after that it would rain for about an hour and then be sunny, or be freezing cold in the morning and be warm and sunny that afternoon. It will also get extremely windy here and then have no wind at all. Now it is freezing cold and windy yet the sun is still shining. It is so weird to me how the weather here can change so drastically, going from one extreme to the other. I am going home for a few days and I really up that it is still hot and sunny in California so I can go to the beach, since I have not been in 3 months! Luckily I love Texas so I do not really care that the weather is different everyday, it is just something I will have to get used to!

taxi cab rides

Every since I started at SMU, I take taxi cabs almost everywhere I go. The first thing I noticed about the taxi cabs that was different here then it is in California was that every person riding in the cab is charged 2 dollars. So if I were to go in a taxi cab with 4 people we would be charged how long it took to get to our destination plus 8 dollars for everyone in the taxi cab. This is very smart for the taxi cab drivers because everywhere we go in cabs, only costs about 5 dollars but when you stuff 10 people in a taxi they are making 25 dollars for a 5 minute taxi ride. This is not good for us though because it costs us more money then we want to spend. Anyway I just thought it was kind of funny how they charge 2 dollars per person in a taxi cab, I have never seen that before, but you learn something new everyday.

Gossip Girl

Gossip Girl was so intense tonight. There was alot of drama and all the girls in boaz got together to watch it. It is literally the best show on tv. The drama keeps getting better and better and everything is so good and juicy. The show really keeps you guessing and that is what I love about the show. I cannot wait for next weeks episode!

DJ AM and Travis Barker

DJ AM and Travis Barker got in a plane accident on friday night. They were the only 2 survivors on the plane out of 6 people. The plane was said to be sparking before it was about to take off of the runway and it went off the runway onto the street and caught on fire. The 2 survivors somehow managed to escape from the burning plane and tried to stop themselves from burning. They were taken to a burn center and are in critical condition. When I found this out I was shocked. It shows how valuable life is and how unsafe a plane, car, boat, or whatever it may be is. I hope that these two men get better soon and heal very fast.
